Did the burdens of yesterday
Stretch your spirits thin,
Break you limb by limb,
Leave you bleeding again?
Did the calm after the storm
Decorate your rusted chains,
Clot your cabled veins,
Leave you crying for tomorrow?
So there’s a part of it
That never seems to work out
Leads you down the same river
Stricken partway by drought
Did the hollow love of some
Wither your smile away,
Numb your fragile bones,
Leave you filled with sorrow?
Did the ignorance of now
Rob your eyes of sight,
Submerge your heart ‘til it drowned,
Leave you inhaling silence?
So there’s a part of it
That never seems to work out
Leads you down the same canyon
With no egress to be found
Faith never comes around
No matter what you possess
There’s no solace here until
You’ve finally found nowhere
