It’s been a long year
Since the signs showed
Seeing her irises blur
And her games slow
I’m surprised
That her bark still bites
With what little strength
She fights for
We both need to admit
That there’s no saving her
From this
Following her seizures
We went against
The vet’s advice
And brought her back home
We could let her paw about
For a few more months
But she’ll never be
Who she once was
She can hardly walk
We can’t keep lying
And feigning dumb
After all we’d been through
Well, that’s when I knew
Our dog has died
