Remember that summer we had
I wonder if you have forgot
Got the courage to hold your hand
Now only holding onto the thought
Remember that time when we
Stood as tall as we could
Promised to always talk things through
Funny how things fall apart
Didn’t take me by surprise, no no
Or so I’d like to think
Remember that thing I said
If only I had thought before
I didn’t mean it but it must’ve rang true
‘Cause then you walked out my door
Now I’ve moved on to bigger and better love
At least that’s what I keep telling myself
Dreams of days gone by
Dreams of the last
Of the past
I love this poem, Devin. So nostalgic, exuding lament and sadness. First rate, I’d say. So evocative…

Thank you, Jack. I greatly appreciate the sentiment.
The past year certainly saw a shift in my songwriting, where I made sure to simplify as much as I could, aiming for simple melodies and riffs, as well as lyrics that were stripped down, wherein I could “wear y heart on my sleeve.” I’m glad to hear that you like it!
